Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Load, transport, and deliver goods safely and on time to clients or business locations.
  • Review delivery orders before and after transport to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with loading and unloading goods when required.
  • Ensure that delivery notes, trip sheets, and relevant documentation are signed and returned.
  • Follow assigned routes and adhere to delivery schedules.
  • Abide by all road traffic laws and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Inspect the truck daily and complete required safety checklists.
  • Report mechanical problems and vehicle defects to the Logistics Supervisor.
  • Refuel and maintain cleanliness of the assigned vehicle.
  • Operate trucks, overhead cranes, forklifts, and related equipment when required.
  • Ensure trucks and axles are not overloaded beyond legal limits.
  • Report road incidents and delays immediately to the Logistics Supervisor.
  • Follow correct accident and emergency procedures if incidents occur.
  • Participate in debrief meetings with the logistics department.
  • Conduct Daily Safety Task Inspections.
  • Maintain effective driving behaviour to prevent unnecessary wear or damage.
  • Ensure company assets are managed responsibly and protected from damage.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and internal teams.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 or National Certificate.
  • Valid Code 14 driver’s licence.
  • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience driving a horse and trailer combination.
  • Proven track record of safe and responsible driving.
  • Knowledge of specialised steel transport will be advantageous.
  • Ability to work shifts and overtime when required.
  • Fluent in English (read, speak, and write).
  • Physically fit to perform loading and unloading duties.
